Supply Chain Lead
Title:Supply Chain Lead
Location:Calgary, Alberta

Engineering (Upside) currently has an opportunity for a Supply Chain Lead to join our established team in Calgary. The Supply Chain Lead will report to the Principal, Engineering and will oversee the Supply Chain department consisting of purchasing, expediting & contracts. As the successful candidate you are a hands-on lead with the ability to manage a team of experienced professionals as well as conduct tasks associated with one or more of the groups being managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supply chain work process and report the status to management and/or clients;
  • Oversee team activities in an environment that fosters learning, excellence and compliance;
  • Conduct senior review and/or management of all documentation, evaluation, recommendations and changes including management of contracts and/or materials & equipment;
  • Workforce forecasting, budget preparation, completion of performance appraisals and internal rate reviews;
  • Management and coordination of Supply Chain resources across multiple projects with multiple clients.
  • Support proposal development teams with respect to RFPs;
  • Develop a procurement and/or contracting strategy for projects;
  • Provide input to procedures and policies, as part of our Quality Management System, that relate to supply chain management;
  • Work with internal and external project and discipline managers in managing the resources of the Supply Chain department to meet project requirements;
  • Maintain and build excellent client relationships; and
  • Risk Management – monitor closure of all identified risks and opportunities.

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience in contract administration and/or procurement and/or expediting;
  • Extensive experience in supply chain disciplines plus budgeting, planning, overall RFQ development, negotiation, evaluation, assessment and purchase order/contract award;
  • Organization, attendance, chairing of pre-award, bid clarification, kick-off and progress meetings with suppliers and contractors;
  • Quality control coordination, shipping and logistics, materials control, materials handling, and HSE/WHMIS shipment, storage and preservation of Dangerous Goods;
  • Materials issuance, inventory control/loss control, traceability, materials and invoice reconciliation, spares and surplus management, change and claims management of complex, high value material/equipment purchases;
  • Purchase order/contract development, assembly, award, amendment, invoice attestation and close-out;
  • Hands-on experience of EP/EPC contracts, within the Oil, Gas, Petrochemicals and Nuclear sectors;
  • Contract and/or Business Law coursework and/or professional designation is an asset;
  • Ability to execute contractual terms & conditions in conjunction with established policies;
  • Understanding of commercial requirements and an ability to interface with technical personnel; and
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors and team members in order to maximize cooperation.
