Description
Upside Engineering Ltd. (Upside) currently has a challenging career opportunity for a highly motivated Business Development Representative – Power Generation to join our established team of professionals in Calgary. As a key member of the business development team, the Business Development Representative will focus on growing the power generation business through new business opportunities while working with the company's existing clients to ensure their satisfaction. The primary goal of this position is the identification, qualification, and closing of new opportunities and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Manager of Power Generation for technical opportunities, while reporting to the Director of Business development for corporate requirements;
  • Maintain strong relationships with key players in power generation industry;
  • Actively identify opportunities for additional services to existing clients;
  • Diligently record and track all business development activities within Upside’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool;
  • Provide input into proposals for engineering services by communicating customer requirements and schedules to internal proposal team;
  • Identify relevant segments within the growth market areas, and develop strategies to penetrate the segment;
  • Identify and develop new sales enquiries and convert into profitable new business;
  • Track and assist in the resolution of client issues, as a measure of client satisfaction;
  • Maintain high levels of client service in order to expand and strengthen relationships;
  • Work with the marketing team to help the implementation of the company’s marketing plan as well as make recommendations for enhancements where required; and
  • Understand the company’s value proposition and service offering and prepare presentations promoting them.
Skills and Experience:
  • A degree or certificate in business or engineering;
  • A minimum of 5 years business to business (B2B) sales experience with a focus on the power generation and engineering industries, 10 MW to 1000 MW Power Generation knowledge and familiarity with key members of power generation industry;
  • Participation in IPPSA and other power generation societies, IEEE, ASME, PCIC, etc.;
  • Knowledge of AESO and AUC; and
  • Proven sales track record.
