Description
Upside Engineering Ltd. (Upside) currently has an opportunity for an Intermediate Electrical and Controls Engineer to join our established team of professionals in Calgary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take a project from P&IDs to completion;
  • Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure a good working interface;
  • Collaborate with project team to determine and achieve project objectives;
  • Plan, organize and supervise the function of a particular project and develop the project team requirements;
  • Develop drawing packages by applying knowledge of design fundamentals, facility design criteria, relative codes and standards;
  • Produce project design criteria, work scopes, technical documents, and other project related documents; and
  • Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans.
Skills and Experience:
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), eligibility for P.Eng., or applicant with APEGA and/or other western provinces;
  • 5 or more years of relevant engineering experience specializing in power and control systems;
  • Working knowledge of detailed design project (EPC and EPCM) execution for oil, gas, chemical and/or power industry clients;
  • Experience assisting project engineering leads and managers in project design and execution to meet client schedules;
  • Knowledge of federal/provincial safety policies and procedures and knowledge and understanding and application of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC);
  • Experience in integration design of transformers, switchgears, MCCs, protection relays, motors, generators, transmission and distribution equipment, working knowledge of ETAP;
  • Ability to develop control system design involving DCS, PLC, control and RTU panels;
  • Adept at writing technical reports and scopes of work; and
  • Proficient with MS Office software and various engineering software programs.
