Senior Process Engineer
Title:Senior Process Engineer
Location:Calgary, Alberta
Upside Engineering Ltd. (Upside) currently has an opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join our established team of professionals in Calgary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison with client on all process matters ensuring critical concerns are addressed quickly. This will entail a great deal of communication with client and other team members;
  • Coordinate critical activity completion with team members, assigning tasks based on required skill set, and participating in solution generation through effective use of extensive process engineering knowledge;
  • Interface with project managers, engineers and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure that good working interfaces exist;
  • Act as the process lead on projects as required;
  • Participate in and potentially act as key process lead in P&ID/HAZOP reviews;
  • Execute/direct technical feasibility studies, conceptual design and process studies;
  • Develop and authenticate key process design documents;
  • Provide process cost estimates on projects and for proposals in collaboration with other disciplines;
  • Provide appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team;
  • Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans; and
  • Able to travel to client site(s) when required.
Skills and Experience
  • Professional designation (P.Eng.) with APEGA is required;
  • Minimum 10 years’ of relevant experience;
  • Experience acting as client liaison with demonstrated expertise in the ability to generate and foster effective/collaborative relationships;
  • Experience acting at the process lead on projects;
  • Excellent communication and technical writing ability;
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills necessary to build relationships with project teams and clients;
  • Working knowledge of detailed design project (EPC and EPCM) execution for oil, gas, chemical and/or power industry clients;
  • Experience assisting project engineering leads and managers in project design and execution;
  • Proficiency with HYSYS, PipeFlo and related simulation software;
  • Process design experience including process mass balances, process flow diagrams and process support services;
  • Systems design experience including piping and instrument diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, hazard and operability design reviews and systems support services; and
  • Safety certificates such as WHMIS 2015, Standard First Aid and H2S Alive would be an asset and may be required depending upon project.
