Title:Intermediate Project Controls (Planner & Cost Control)
Location:Calgary, Alberta
Upside Engineering Ltd. (Upside) currently has an opportunity for a part time Intermediate Project Control (Planner & Cost Control) professional to join our established team in Calgary.

Key Responsibilities – Planner/Scheduler
  • Assist Senior Project Control personnel in the overall planning and scheduling activities on projects;
  • Provide accurate development of project schedules taking into account materials lead times, labor resource availability, and project complexity when making a determination;
  • Maintain routine schedules on a current basis;
  • Liaise with project management on matters relating to planning and scheduling;
  • Monitor schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties and advise Senior Project Controls for their consideration;
  • Participate in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and development of schedules; and
  • Participate in the project change management process related to schedule.
Key Responsibilities – Cost Control
  • Take responsibility for project control functions related to cost for multiple projects with a wide range of budget values, and diverse client base;
  • Assemble and compile cost data and inputs into the project control system (PRISM G2) and provide output to the project stakeholders;
  • Prepare earned value/performance reports;
  • Participate in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and development of schedules and budget data (including resource loading) for those WBS elements;
  • Administer the project change control process related to cost;
  • Advise and assist the Project Manager and Project Team in relation to project control procedures, with a focus on Earned Value Management (EVM); and
  • Provide assistance with preparation of project cost estimates.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or engineering would be an asset;
  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be an asset;
  • 5 or more years of proven experience in project controls across all aspects of projects, including design, construction, procurement, construction and installation;
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 with an understanding of EPC Planning;
  • Knowledge of PRISM G2 would be an asset;
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Understanding of engineering execution and business processes;
  • Experience with manpower resource loading, deliverable progress and earned value management systems; and
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills and an ability to disseminate non-discretionary information from discretionary information.
