Description
Upside Engineering Ltd. currently has an opportunity for a Project Manager to join our established team of professionals in Calgary.

The Project Manager plans, organizes and supervises a particular project. He/she is responsible for developing the project team requirements for a specific project and working with department leads to ensure that resources are provided to successfully execute the project.

The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of the project on schedule, on budget and within scope while ensuring that the project is completed meeting the requirements of Upside’s quality management system.

 
Skills and experience:
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience;
  • P.Eng. in Alberta required;
  • Experience managing the engineering, procurement and construction of large diameter pipelines.
 Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior management to determine long range plans and objectives;
  • Collaborate with project management/engineering staff to achieve project objectives;
  • Supervise/participate in the development/approval of design procedures;
  • Promote safe work practices and ensures assigned employees conduct their work in accordance with company safety policies;
  • Interface with other teams, Project Managers/Engineers, Clients and Vendors during all phases of projects to ensure that good working interfaces on both a department-to-department and individual-to-individual basis exist. Participate in the resolution of conflicts affecting personnel and/or the achievement of deliverables on the projects;
  • Provide and approve employees’ hour estimates for projects and track performance on projects;
  • Determine personnel needs, interview applicants, select candidates and assist with the training of new employees;
  • Review/audit/stamp (as appropriate) the work of subordinate personnel, in accordance with the guidelines of the professional associations;
  • Participate in proposal presentations and business development activities;
  • Understand the skills and functions required for all position levels under his/her supervision;
  • Provide a leadership role in quality management and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Ensure that projects are completed on a timely basis;
  • Establish performance expectations for project employees; and
  • Perform other duties as required.
Ideally you are solutions driven and manage yourself and others well.  You must also have a proven ability to generate and foster client relationships while working in a fast paced and competitive business environment. A demonstrated ability to create and direct effective teams and to mentor and develop team members is essential.
